Beautiful Hats by Ann McMahon Ann McMahon’ hats are reminiscent of an age gone by. Her goal is to create new hats that echo the looks and workmanship of hats from previous decades. She is a graduate of Boston University’s School for the Arts and is a classically trained musician as well as artisan and fashion designer. Goldie Hawn, Jessica Grey, Aretha Franklin and Julie Harris are some of the celebrities who have worn her creations. Her fashions have been the focus of the "Hot Lines" section of the Boston Globe magazine which features the unusual and unique. The Ritz-Carlton presented her hats at several of the Saturday fashion luncheons. Savoir Faire hats have been a frequent feature of the Cafe Promenade and Brasserie Joe restaurant's pre-Boston Symphony fashion shows at the Colonnade Hotel in Boston. She has taught millinery techniques at the Boston School for Fashion Design on Newbury Street. Her hats are featured each year in the Museum’s "Style" show of Wearable Art. She is a participant in fine juried craft shows including those of the Danforth Museum of Art, the Worcester Center for Crafts and the Paradise City fine craft shows. Each hat is a one of a kind creation. Materials include luxurious Swiss velvets, silks and velour and felt hats. Unique ornaments of silk, satin and taffeta ribbons adorn her chapeaus along with vintage findings and precious cording. Charming hair ornaments, delightful purses and enchanting bridal headpieces and veils are also available. Custom orders for the bridal party are welcomed. |
