Savoir Faire Hats

Dear Diary...

The lovely Tracy went to the Angela Moore Fashion Show at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport and was a hit in her Savoir Faire Hat. She and the hat were featured in a Providence Journal Article about the Ritzy Affair!Read more

This was an enjoyable time to join the Channel 10 News Team in a segment on the 7 o'clock News. We had an upbeat chat about the rage for hats. The Royal Wedding and the Kentucky Derby have sparked a real vogue for a dashing chapeau. How lovely. See more photos...

I was very fortunate to spend a large part of this very cold winter in Naples, Florida. I am back now and am concentrating on the Paradise City show on Memorial Day week-end in Northampton and in developing a bridal line. Hoping for warmer weather here in the East! It will be Derby Day before we know it!

This pretty girl with the red red lipstick was the center of attention last year at the Paradise City show in Marlboro. We are back again this year to this highly competitive and beautiful show. This is the last of my shows for this year. For the first time in twenty years, I am going to just enjoy the lovely holidays.

How quickly time flies, especially when one is having fun. Fun is certainly what this last summer was about for me. I was out and about almost every night enjoying the jazz that still abounds in Newport. Nothing like having the right friends to really enjoy one's self. Speaking of enjoying one's self, the ladies in the Red Hat Society seem to be having a whole lot of the fun and good for them!

The Newport Arts Festival was a gala affair. The music wafted into the tents along with the ocean breeze for a fun-filled show. I was happy to see a lot of old and new friends. Take a look for yourself!

I am hoping for nice weather the week-end of August 28th and 29th at the Newport Arts Festival right here in Newport. The event is produced by "Looking Upwards", an organization that does a huge amount of good. I hope that many of you come out for a week-end of great music and crafts. black fascinator

I am delighted to say that Savoir Faire "fascinators" and French flowers were for sale at the special "Art in Bloom" boutique at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts last month. Due in large part to the fact that the very attractive guides and docents for the exhibit wore the fascinators on their tours, the entire stock was sold out. I love a celebrity endorsement, don't you? I hope you come to the summer shows to see the assortment of pretty hair ornaments.

The Newport Arts Festival was held at the Yachting Center on America's Cup Boulevard with an auspicious start - a hurricane! The skies cleared for the show on Sunday and I am happy to say that sales were brisk and the people were delightful. Heard at the Savoir Faire booth were "I love this hat, it will go so well with my antique Jaguar" and "This is wonderful, I can wear this when we pick up our yacht in the South of France". I think I will begin to put lo-jacks on my hats so I can see the fabulous places they visit!

Summer is rolling along. It has been so rainy here in the East that we have not had too much of a chance to enjoy our brief beautiful season. We did have a beautiful 4th of July week-end, however. Look at this cutie from the Marblehead Arts Festival Show.

The woods are an unusual setting for Savoir Faire cocktail hats, but here is a reunion of college roomates (North Texas State University Music School). Of course, Annalee steals the show. That is as it should be, isn't it"

I am just back from an exciting trip to California where I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of Jaime and Anne Pond Peterson. It took place on the American River in Colonna, CA. What a lovely couple!

April 15, 2009. It has been a long, cold winter here in the Northeast, even in Newport! Usually our ocean breeze will keep things warmer. Edison and I were able to bundle up and get our winter walks on the beach or on the Clif Walk. We are now buckling down to the task of preparing for the spring and summer season. We have gone a little "green" with some of the trim on the new hats. Can you tell what the flowers are made of?

September 2008. I have finished my summer shows. They were a lot of work but they were also a lot of fun. It is terrific to see my old friends - both customers and artists. Here are some photos:Here are some photos from the events this spring and summer

a pretty girl going to an opening of "Sex in the City" in a nice cocktail hat. What fun. Paradise City Festival, May, 2008

Ann in OSKAI am continuing to love my home in the beautiful city of Newport. I am preparing for the spring and summer shows. These kicked off with a "trunk show" on the waterfront in Newport. We celebrated the Kentucky Derby on May 3rd at OSKA, a store which sells beautiful European clothing. It was indeed a frosty day. The mint juleps were a helpful warm-up!
